About the Book
Professional Therapy leaves you feeling like its problems only you have. You go into a quiet little room where the Doctor sits at his or her desk across from you and asks you these dry questions. Then, they sit there waiting on you to talk. They will just sit there looking at you. Over time, I guess you open up to the person. Here, everyone gets involved. They've experienced some form of life issues and know how it changed their life. Here, no one has gone to school, the lesson came from life experiences. Each person gives great detail about the subject and how they found the solution. It makes you feel connected to reality a lot more because you know this is real not just a brain smart person sitting before you with a book smart answer!
Many times, a subject comes up and it may get so involving, tears are wiped away in moments of emotions. I swear, there have been times the shop has been in such an emotional state, you forgot you were even in a salon. The sistas bonding together to reach out to someone with all the right intentions of helping a sista in whatever the situation it may be. I tell ya, if you haven't experienced a sista- ta-sista soul searching gathering in a beauty salon, you have been missing out on who we, as sistas, really are when we bond together.
About the Author
Denise Thompson, born in a small town Bogalusa, Louisiana to a single mother Lucille Thompson. Raised in Slidell, Louisiana by two strong woman my mother and my Grandmother, Mattie Thompson-Maiben.
Growing up in a small town my community was a very close net community. I received lost of extra love and nurturing. I grew up with a strong belief in God, taught to pray about everything. I found myself not able to complete High School due to teenage difficulties of who I was and where I belong. Attending John Jay's Beauty College I found my notch. After sixteen years of my career as a cosmetologist, I've relies there's more for me in the field on a different level. Writing has always been the way for me to express what I'm feeling, which made it a good way for me to help someone else. Married, to Eric Doss and raising our three kids, writing gave me time to relieve myself of those heavy and confusing moments. I've always been one to reach out to help someone, in this field of work God has placed me in a situation he can us me to deliver his word to people hurting and feeling lost. I'm currently living in Slidell, Louisiana where I?ve built many great client-stylist relationship. My Pastor preached on Walking onto New Territory, today I'm taking that walk.
