About the Book

Dex Hamilton is a burned-out former newspaper reporter who lives alone in the Hawaiian rainforest and plays at being a private investigator to keep himself in beer. After receiving a cryptic letter, he stumbles across a billion-dollar resort swindle involving his ex-wife and her new husband, a ruthless developer with a Tahitian bodyguard as big as a house. The first casualty of this dangerous game is his best friend, Juanito. As the bodies start to pile up, Hamilton has to learn how to become a real PI if he wants to survive and unravel the twisted links of The Paradise Connection.

About the Author

William Starr Moake grew up in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and began his writing career as a 19-year-old cub reporter for a daily newspaper in West Palm Beach, Florida. After majoring in anthropology in college, he worked as a freelance travel writer and his articles have appeared in Florida Magazine, Bambo Ridge: A Hawaii Writers' Journal, the Tico Times of Costa Rica, and various other publications. This is Moake's first book of fiction. He is currently working on a novel set in Hawaii, where he has lived for the past 27 years.
