About the Book

When Shama's older sister elopes from the house, leaving her family to deal with community gossip, she doesn't think she would have to suffer too. Shama naively agrees to travel to Pakistan, a country full of strangers and poverty, where she finds out the shocking news of her parents' forcing her into a marriage she is against. The book deals with how this young teenage girl tries to bring back her family together, and escape from her forced marriage. It deals with emotions and understanding between parents and children of this generation.
