About the Book

Maddy Gates has escaped her stressful life as a newly published author and has come to her family vacation home in Michigan. Although longing for the peace and quiet that this secluded place promises, her inquisitive mind does not rest for long. Just as she's settling in, a brooding and mysterious Chicago cop who has been temporarily relieved of his duties arrives at the cottage next door. With Maddy's engaging persistence, a friendship begins. Soon, Maddy finds the closer she comes to unraveling the traumatic events of Jack Alexander's life, the more he appears to push her away. In one futile attempt to reconcile Jack to his past, Maddy will discover if her determined effort will bring them closer together or destroy their relationship completely.

About the Author

Like the characters in her book, Mary Mortensen is from the Midwest. She lives in northern Indiana with her husband and children. The Question Bowl is her first novel.
