About the Book

When Laurie Downes married an eccentric scientist, she needed more than her normal family upbringing in order to cope with the challenges that life with him provided. She found those coping skills when she surrendered her life to God.

This autobiography walks you through the joys and struggles of an ordinary Christian family, which experienced extraordinary grace as it expanded to embrace 95 people. It also describes the inner working of God's grace as he touches individuals and brings them closer to him.

Unlike the vast number of people today who suffer from a deep spiritual void, the people intimately involved in this author's world are marching to a cadence heard by those who stop to listen, both to the voice within them and the cries of their brothers and sisters. They know freedom that lets them live beyond the logic of this world, a freedom that takes them anywhere God leads them.

Laurie Downes shares her passionate love for the wisdom contained in the Bible, through inspirational speaking, facilitating Bible studies, and teaching seminars on personal holiness. She lives in Chicago, in the lively household of her daughter, Julie, her husband and their five children.
