About the Book

Hunting for majestic bucks, being involved with nature, and enjoying the comradeship of friends are desires instilled in the minds of millions of young Americans. Some get to experience all three of these, but only one person can shoot the largest buck in the record book. All the rest of us can dream and have memories for a lifetime.

The Deer Lick is a story of a young boy's quest to kill this elusive buck, and the trials and tribulations of Lee's adventures are filled with humor and danger. The logging camp supplies the background for his education about people, horses, hard work, and values of nature.

Lee leaves home to work at a logging camp and with the help of Roy, Otto, and Jumping Fish learns the importance of friendship, and how nature provides man the ability to live on this earth.

The buck finally makes a mistake that could cost him his life, and Lee clicks the safety off on his rifle. He took dead aim. His finger began to tighten

About the Author

In fifty plus years I have hunted deer, moose, elk, caribou, bear, rabbits, quail, dove, ducks, and pheasant. Also, fished trout, pike, bass, grayling, salmon, walleye, and sunfish on more lakes than I have freckles on my sunburn skin. I am a retired elementary principal and live in Salado, Texas.
