About the Book

After being badly injured in a car accident, 12-year-old Mattie tries to give up her love of horses and her wish to have her own. But when she saves a lame race horse and nurses it back to health, she is able to begin her own healing. This moving story, in a warm family setting, is packed with equestrian details.

About the Author

Alice DeLaCroix lives in the country in Penfield, New York, with her husband. They have two grown children who taught her much about horses. Originally from Indiana, Ms. DeLaCroix has a Master’s degree from Purdue University, where she also taught. Her time is now devoted to writing for children.
