About the Book
When two friends meet after an absence of ten years, they have both changed considerably. Inseparable in youth, they find that as mature adults the relationship of friendship alters. After an argument over religion, Sam proposes a wager that the story of Job is fiction, that a man that loses everything, will indeed lose his faith. Sam acts and Joe B loses everything, his children, his home, his health.
Sam eventually destroys his friendship with his old friend, Hank. Hank destroys his own life. Joe B, miraculously, maintains his faith.
