John Raincrow is a 16-year-old Miccosukee Indian who calls the Florida Everglades home. When John’s father kills an endangered Florida Panther as a religious duty, John must make his own peace with his culture, the animal spirits, and his personal path. This novel was selected a Best Book by the Child Study Group of Bank Street College. It was recorded for the blind by the Library of Congress in 2000.

Luke Wallin is a Mississippi writer and musician with eight award-winning novels for adults and young adults. He is Professor of English at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and a faculty member in the Master of Fine Arts in Writing Program at Spalding University.
