About the Author
Guy Stanley and Dian Cohen have been tracking the changing economy for more than two decades. Each has won National Business Writing Awards. Dian has been honored with membership in the Order of Canada. Ten years ago they joined their efforts to describe the new economy, first with a documentary series The Global Economy (CJRT Open College, 1990). They explored the importance of innovation (No Small Change, Macmillan Canada, 1993) and the emergence of a networked private economy (Class Action, Robert Davies Press, 1993). Dian went on to explore the fiscal plight of the advanced countries, especially Canada, which she wrote up in The New Retirement: Financial Strategies for Life after Work (Doubleday, 1999, 2nd ed. 2000). In this book they continue their examination with an in-depth look at how the new technologies change the capacities of public sector institutions. Guy Stanley is the Director of the International MBA Program at the University of Ottawa. Dian Cohen runs an economic communications consulting company with offices in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.
