About the Book

In 1923, Margaret Kyler, a forty-year-old spinster, fell in love with Milan Hall, the richest man in town. Milan, a recent widower, courted Margaret in spite of his two daughters'objections. After two years of passionate devotion, his ardor cooled and he suddenly married another woman. The mores at that time were Victorian, and Margaret was looked upon a "damaged goods". Devastated, she sued Milan for breach of promise and the trial made national headlines.

About the Author

Arlene Lawless is a graduate of Ohio State University earning a R.D.H. and a B.A. in Psychology. She is a world traveler, and enjoys dancing, golf, boating and gourmet cooking. Arlene attends three writer's workshops and is a regular at the Hemingway Writer's Conference in Key West.
