About the Author

A world traveler, Mr. Zara has personally visited many of the regions where jade has been cherished- from China to Middle America, from Alaska to New Zealand. A mineralogist as well as a gemologist, he was the creator and editor-in-chief of the famous all-color periodical Mineral Digest. As a senior jade authority, now in his 90th year, with more than a half-century of expertise in jade, he was the expert witness in the damage suit concerning Mai-tze-tung’s jade chariot before the Nashantucket Tribal Court in Foxwoods, Connecticut.
