In 1975, a Foreign Service officer who doubled as a CIA agent wrote a novel disguising a climactic espionage encounter that took place in Istanbul, the outcome of which altered the balance of power between cold war adversaries. He submitted his manuscript to headquarters which arbitrarily refused to grant clearance and it languished in agency files stamped Most Secret—do not release. However, a senior agency analyst recently purloined a copy from headquarters and passed to the ex-agent.

This story of action, adventure, romance and two improbable heros can now be told in Both Hunter and Hunted.

A former U.S. Foreign Service officer who has lived in Europe, The Middle East and Asia, Vincent Joyce is a novelist, dramatist, and lecturer, and when not following creative pursuits, has been an executive of a major international bank.
