About the Book

A Fable For Our Time

Human behavior is, to other humans, a constant source of entertainment and puzzlement: what pleases some horrifies others; what some run to, others run from. Sometimes the more one strives to steer one's life in a direct line, the more it goes astray; and at other times it collides directly into another's life coming the opposite way. Such is this tale; and it is also a narration of how very often humans, by carelessness and vindictiveness, destroy the very thing that attracts them.

The description of human intimacy, necessary to demonstrate the natural progression of human bondage, is not intended to be vulgar, but may be too detailed for some readers.

About the Author

Tom J McLoughlin was born in New Orleans, Louisiana?a World War One 'baby boomer' He grew up during the Great Depression?just in time to put on his country's uniform and go to sea as an engineer in American warships, cargo ships, and oil tankers. After ten years of staring at the top of the world's oceans, he arrived in the great city of Chicago?completely unheralded. Nevertheless, he managed to endure as a commercial artist and writer for decades; which suited him fine; for, after all, how many can spend their lives doing what they love and get paid for it? Although he has been a writer for decades, Thomas J McLoughlin is probably too blue-nosed to be writing novels of this nature. His main intention in writing is to trick people into smiling or thinking: his main concern is that people having read 'A Fable for Our Time' may not see its intent.
