About the Book

An Outline of AN OZARK LEGACY

The story begins in the south, just prior to the 1936 election race between FDR and Alf Landon. It was a terrible time in the country, abetted by political corruption in most of the south. Sheriff Jordan proves once again that power corrupts. From sheriff of a small county in the south, he rises to the top law enforcement job in the state. He is picked for the job due to his ability to deliver votes. Never mind that he accomplishes this through fear and corruption.

When Jordan kills a sheriff friend and two young men to protect his whiskey operation, his world starts to come apart. The FBI uses the event to try and locate the missing LeBlanc files. One agent wants the files to sell to a corrupt judge involved in crimes.

Going mad, Jordan faces the corrupt judge and threatens to shoot him. Instead, he is shot dead by the judge’s colored house keeper. Thanks to a clever ploy by Roy, this event turns into a last heroic deed by Jordan.
