About the Book

In her first novel, Margaret Ann McComb has created Newley, Wyoming, a small town where the hub is Dee's Diner. At Dee's we can savor the simmering chili and smell the endless pots of coffee, right alongside the regulars, such as town pest, Clayton Fischer, and corrupt bank president, Bob Conroy.

After receiving word that her aunt is dying, Karen leaves graduate school and arrives to find Newley preparing for the Christmas town competition, the opera, and the Winter Beauty Queen pageant. Big plans for a dumpy little town, and a source of amusement for Karen as they crumble and tempers flare.

After reuniting with her old flame, Johnny River, Karen discovers that in order to take the right fork in the road, sometimes you have to back up quite a ways.
