About the Book

This deeply engrossing novel is a fictionalized account of the life struggles of patients and doctors inside a mental hospital. Inspired by the author’s own experience — Daniels was hospitalized in the 1950’s while suffering from anorexia nervosa — this book dares to expose the troubled lives of both the patients and their caretakers.

“In a novel of unusual scope...[Daniels] presents controversial themes with compassion and understanding.”
