About the Book
GRAMMATICAL LITERACY is a guide for English teachers, both pre-service and in-service. A reorganization of the traditional grammar of English, it uses the parts of speech as a category system. It incorporates an extensive exploration of the elements of the sentence, of the use of diagrams as graphic organizers , and of grammatical analysis applied to real text. The book is a useful text for professionals who need to be able to perform grammatical analysis; it is not a usage manual. Encompassing the body of traditional grammar, it uses both operational and notional definitions.
