About the Book
Once a simple cook in the XXII Flavius, Marcus Marcellus saved his Legion from certain annihilation on Deneb IV, a hellhole of blazing heat and blowing sands. He rose from the ashes of that disaster to earn one of the most powerful positions in the Roman Empire. Sir Marcus Marcellus is now a newly elected Tribune of the people. The Emperor’s first assignment for him is to locate and contain beings from earth's most distant past. The Romans called them Strigoii; others called them vampires. He also has to solve the mystery of the marauders, pirates that prey upon Roman shipping. In the midst of these problems, he must conceal his forbidden love for Parthenia, a Gallae priestess of the outcast temple of Cybele.
