In an unbelievable-and somewhat foolish-game of poker, an overly confident Englishman puts his manor on the line. To his shock, American Quinton Randum becomes the new owner. But is this sizeable win a curse or a blessing?

Mystery, seduction, and deceit entangle the Randum family after they move into their newly acquired home in Wexley, England. Quinton's wife Miriam blesses him with a son-but so does his mistress. Although the two boys, Winston and Thomas, reside in the Randum household, their lives are very different. Thomas lives his life being coddled and praised while Miriam verbally and emotionally abuses Winston. Over time, Winston develops a severe hatred for the Randum family.

Determined to exact his revenge, Winston plots his family's demise. All too soon, the unspeakable crimes begin, raging out of control and spreading to a second generation of the Randum family.

Aleta Custer lives in Southern California in the Mojave Desert with her husband and best friend, Max. She has been a member of the California Writers Club since 1993 and has published newspaper articles and short stories, including Images for the California Writers Club anthology.
