About the Book
"Irrespective of one's politics, Phoenix Concept exposes us to the reality of the emotional trauma that is associated with the voluntary termination of a pregnancy. Skeen spins a tale where fiction evolves in an intriguing and plausible concept for those of us that have been there and done that."
-Victoria Taft
Driven by circumstances from his failed marriage, Dr. Garrison Timbers blends deceit with compassion to justify his unethical and covert brand of medicine. If exposed, the only thing he has to lose is his medical license, career and deepening sense of guilt.
"Phoenix Concept takes you into the dark and unforgiving psyche of three women who must relive a choice made possible for them by Roe Vs. Wade. Just when the emotional scars are beginning to heal a ghost appears from the past. Their former physician now draws them back through years of painful memories where they are forced to make the choice once again-for the last time. A fascinating read with balanced perspectives on a highly divisive issue."
-Charles Whitlock Author and Investigative Reporter
About the Author
Trace Skeen is a health care executive and former practicing paramedic. During his years working in the street, he worked side-by-side with neonatal teams that were called upon to stabilize and provide emergency ambulance transportation for critical high-risk infants from remote hospitals. His wife and four daughters have provided foster baby boarding for newborns during the legal notification period prior to the child being placed with adoptive parents. He has testified before state and federal lawmakers and frequently found himself in front of probing news cameras on controversial health care issues more often that he cares to recall. Phoenix Concept is his first-full length novel. He also invites you to read his recently published ?Pathways to Autumn? where he takes on the issue of Alzheimer?s and the pharmaceutical industry.
