About the Book
Alice in Washington is a gentle satire full of puns and poems and galloping alliterations in the style of Alice in Wonderland. Some readers may think they see President Clinton behind the name Willy, his wife behind Hilly Dilly, but who knows? Very very old readers—readers as old as the author—might remember Foozy the Grand Vizier who bears a striking resemblance to Robert Reich. Even the very young will recognize George Styrofoam. The original Alice makes a cameo appearance with the Dormouse and nearly everyone gets to recite a poem.
About the Author
Richard Bonine studied Russian at the Army Language School, then rode the GI Bill all the way to London and a Ph.D. in history. He taught for a time, then, at retirement, surrendered to a long suppressed passion for alliteration. The result—Alice In Washington. He now lives happily with his VCR and squash racquet in a nice condo in St. Paul.
