About the Author
Martha Bennett Stiles grew up on a James River goat farm near where her great9-grandfather Thomas Savage was held hostage. She is the prize-winning author of dozens of articles and short stories, the novel Lonesome Road, and ten books for young people, including ALA notable Darkness Over the Land. Martha lives with her husband on their Kentucky horse farm.
