About the Book

The 1849 gold rush in California inspired Thomas Carter to mine gold. He discovered a circular informing him of a large gold mining company in New York. He was currently employed by the Princeton Mine at Mariposa, California. The Oriental Consolidated Mine Company was contacted as Tom wished to expand his career. He was accepted and traveled to Korea. His future wife joined him and they were married in the American Consulate in Seoul, Korea.

About the Author

I was born just outside of Memphis, TN, in a three-room-shack. My formal education was sadly neglected. After moving to California, I worked for three newspapers, and have spent the last 15 years writing novels. My first, Four Years of Track Life, is about life on a traveling railroad maintenance crew.
