About the Book

Me and Burnice is a collection of true stories that applauds growing up and everyday events in the 1940s. Abounding in humor, it uses laugh-aloud narrative to touch on the gentleness and richness of mankind. Told in a way the reader can be there and say, "That happened to me just like that" or "I identified with it all the way it was so easy to read." It chronicles the adventures of two boys, how they grow and entertain themselves, and expand the limits of their imaginations. Although it was a simpler life they always went for the gusto.

About the Author

I am a native Texan. Born in Wichita Falls, we moved to San Augustine County during the depression. I attended grade school at Rosevine in Sabine County where I achieved championship status at marbles, especially "keeps," and learned to pole vault with a sweet gum sapling. I graduated from San Augustine High and spent two years in the military service, eighteen months of that time in Korea. I owned and operated Noble Appliance Co. in San Augustine for several years. My career, however, was in computers, two years at NASA, followed by twenty-eight years at University of Houston and Lamar University. During this time I earned a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Stephen F. Austin University and an MBA in Finance from University of Houston. I was Assistant Vice president of Information Systems at Lamar University when I retired in 1991. Returning to San Augustine, I began writing biographical history for the hometown newspaper, the San Augustine Tribune. Digging into the local history, I launched a second career that has produced over seven hundred articles and the publication of three books
