About the Author

History of The Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project The Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project, Inc. (RTYYMP) was established in 1997 for the sole purpose of youth development, both personally and professionally. Since our inception, RTYYMP has made insurmountable gains as an organization. Our services provide teenage youths from the ages of 12 through 21 with guidance and empowerment using an educational curriculum developed by the founders and the project's education coordinators. The Founders believe this curriculum is designed to empower our youth of today, because positive adult mentoring can only lead to prosperous youth development. Vincent W. Sample (Executive Director) founded the Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project, Inc. in 1997. As a volunteer with his employer's mentor program, I Vincent, recognized that today's youth, especially those who would be classified as "at-risk," lack the enhancement of basic skills that would help them become successful in todays "society and workplace". Over the past years "The Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project" has been meeting the needs of at risk and those considered not at risk teenagers in the Public School System, Social Service agencies, and the Judicial system of Philadelphia. The Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project is committed to youth development and community service projects in Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. Because of the magnitude and severity of young adult problems of today such as, young adults being considered at risk, educational failure or dropping out of school, or being involved in criminal/gang activities. Some of our student clientele is made up of such individuals who deem themselves a failure to our society. The Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project goal and objective is to change this perspective in our young adults and address these issues with our student's population with scheduled mentoring sessions on these topics. From its inception, the Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project has worked closely with other non-profit organizations and social service agencies to form successful collaborations to battle these problems that face our youths of today. The Reach To Your Youth Mentor Project is unique in that its founders started with a vision - to have a positive impact on today's youth through adult mentoring - and they turned that vision into a non-profit organization that has been able to touch the lives of numerous teens.
