About the Book

The Walking Wounded is both a personal and practical book about the process and role of grieving for Christians. A minister's wife and graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Marjorie Brumme leads us through her own story of loss, pointing out along the way the unintended missteps of those who wanted to help but did not know how. Death comes as the stranger in the night, and even the devout Christian can have his faith shaken. Instead of denying and cloaking sorrow in religious platitudes, Christians should realize that grieving is a necessary and healing process. It was the Apostle Paul who reminded us both to rejoice with those who rejoice, and to weep with those who weep. This book lovingly shows us how to support those who need support.

Chapter Two provides examples of famous people who lost loved ones. Chapter Six, Creative Grief, shows how sorrow can be transformed into works of beauty, such as with the hymns "Abide With Me" and "Precious Lord". The grieving process and "How to Help the Wounded" are the topics of Chapters Three through Five. Appropriately, the book concludes focusing on "The Great Physician" and "Heaven's Comfort" and the "wonderful rejoicing there will be!"
