About the Book

Sara Louise, aka "Slinky" Sullivan doesn't want a perfect life. She just wants one in which she has some control. Her family's move to Dry Level, Alabama, has thrown her into a new school with strict rules and mounds of work. Suddenly, her friends' pets begin to die one by one. When Slinky sets her mind to solve the mystery, she has no idea that the job might require the sacrifice of anything beyond time, a little brainpower, and maybe dessert.

However, when she unwittingly becomes the most despised person in her school, she is forced to determine what are the most important things in her life and what she will do to defend them.

About the Author

As a third grader in the sixties, Lin relieved boredom by using her spelling words to tell intriguing stories in one sentence. Her love of writing continued through high school and college. In the eighties, she enjoyed teaching writing to her elementary school students. As a parent in the nineties, she read to her boys until they could do it themselves. Now that one son is in college and one is in high school, she fills her days doing office work for her husband. She lives in Alabama with her three men and a spoiled Whippet named Cricket.
