What do you do with the rest of your life when, shortly after moving from Manhattan to a small town up the Hudson, your beloved and successful writer husband suddenly dies? This is the dilemma that faces Frances Terry. In the profound shock of this reversal, Frances belatedly accepts the fact that her own life will continue. Money is not a problem, but how to fill the gap in her life is. So she accepts the first offer that comes her way-delivering meals to the needy of her small community. At the same time, she decides that now is the time to renew her neglected talent for painting. Many new friends come into her life-some welcome, and some not-but it is a small boy who provides the impetus for a new outlook on life and a special reason for going on.

About the Author

After college, Laura McBride headed for New York to work in theatre. Eventually marriage followed. Stationed abroad with her husband, she lived for many years in Asia. After returning to the States and early retirement, her husband died and Laura returned to an old interest in writing. The Pebbled Shore is her third novel.
