About the Book

This book derived mainly from historical research, reading and rational analysis of the books of the Old Testament, the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and the epistles, without clerical or religious lenses. A possible connection with the apocryphal gospels or antique manuscripts will be mere coincidence. The fictional part of the book is on account of the artistic license. The reader will reduce or enlarge the fictional field according to his/her beliefs, intelligence, and sensitivity. In the Bible itself, the margin for fiction and contradiction is significant. The storyline adopts a linear path of the life the great master of humanity. It brings up the circumstances and the human sensuality of the conception and birth of Joshua and of John Baptist, aspects of their adolescence and maturity, the novitiate and the gradual ascension to the classes of adepts, prophets and illuminati in the school of mysteries called Egyptian Cross Fraternity. This part of the book contains debates about the fundamental aspects of the material world and spiritual world. Following, the book shows the scheme of the moral and religious revolution incited by the school of mysteries and led externally by John Baptist and Joshua, the first in the role of messenger, and the second in the role of messiah. It describes the spiritual ecstasy of Joshua in the eve of the crucifixion, the decisive moments of resurrection, the organization of the primitive church, the role of Maria Magdalene, the marriage and the descendants of Joshua, the election for the function of Hierophant, and his last days in Gallia. There are interludes, like the domestic and social life, the first sexual experience of Joshua, the romantic love affair with Maria Magdalene, the issues of adultery and homosexuality, episodes of crime, suicide, sodomy, rebellion, investigations, and trials. These topics account for the realism and verisimilitude of the story. The indelible presence of the school of mysteries pervades all the way through the work.

About the Author

A. S. Lima was born in Brazil, on June 22, 1939. He lived in small towns and cosmopolitan capitals like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Nowadays, he lives in Penedo, State of Rio de Janeiro. Bachelor of Law and Master in Legal Sciences, he has taught General Theory of the State and Constitutional Law for the last three decades of the 20th century. He is a lawyer, and district judge, besides being a professor. From his career as a professor, two books resulted (Constituted Power and Constitution and Theory of the State and the Constitution). Initiate on the highest degrees of the Old and Mystic Order Rosicrucian?s and in the Third Degree of Freemasonry of the Scottish Rite, and Accepted of the Great Orient, the author makes incursions into the fields of Logic, Philosophy, Mysticism, History of the Civilization, History of the Religion and History of the Western Thought. This book resulted from the author?s studies and from his life experience.
