About the Book

Growin' Up in '45 captures the nostalgic lure of a bygone era. Recalling the hilarious antics of a group of adventuresome teenagers and their care-free attitudes, Max Geyer has created a great blend of characters.

A semi-autobiographical sketch of the author's childhood adventures, the story takes place in a small town in Indiana. This naturally resourceful band of youthful boys, ranging in age from 13 to 15 years, is able to find excitement in their small town, and complicate their lives in the process.

Their experiences range from high adventure to total terror, and lead them into many hilarious situations.

Without a doubt, the life-changing experiences encountered during 1945 significantly accelerated the "growin' up" process for these young men.

About the Author

Max Geyer was born and raised in a small town in Indiana. He completed his first 12 years of education in the Catholic school system.

During the Korean War, he honorably served a four-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy. After completion of his military duty, Geyer began work as an electronics technician. He later married, and he and his wife, Lucy, raised three children.

Geyer ultimately worked a total of 32 years in the technical publications field before retiring in 1992. Retirement afforded him the opportunity to author his first book Growin Up in '45.
