About the Book
Fifteen-year-old Clara Steinbeck is trapped in a world seemingly occupied only by people who are trying to kill her. Poland is under Hitler's command, and for Clara and her family, there seems to be no way out. When a group of Nazis storm her house and kill her father, she realizes that she might not come out of this nightmare alive.
Just when there seems to be little hope, help finally comes. But Clara soon realizes that being saved might not be worth the risk when you're being saved by the enemy.
This is a story of courage, love, survival, and how one girl overcomes her fears and pain in spite of the horrifying events of the Holocaust.
