About the Book

The year is 1969. The place is Blackie's Landing, a remote barrier island off North Carolina's coast, which is only accessible by boat or ferry.

WWII veteran, Andrew McBride, is drowning in booze and bittersweet thoughts of Katarina, as he pens his memoirs. Adding to his quandary are eager land developers, who are threatening to destroy the sanctity of his quaint hideaway.

Andy's life is about to change forever when beautiful, young Andrea Bonelli lands on his doorstep, seeking shelter from an approaching storm.

Complications abound when young Bobby Ainsworth brings his own troubles to Blackie's Landing. With the nor'easter of the century on the horizon, survival suddenly becomes priority #1 for all of them.

About the Author

Author JOYCE MARIE TAYLOR invites you to step inside the pages of her books. Come lose yourself in the romantic escapades of her diverse characters, laugh through the tough spots, and prepare to be swept into the mysteries of each compelling story. “ANIRATAK” was written after a mind-blowing vacation Taylor spent on Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina when a violent storm descended upon the area. She literally found herself cut off from civilization for days, which prompted her creative juices to flow like hot molten lava as she created her story. Taylor released her 13th novel in 2014, entitled “Love in the Shadows”. It's a story about a brave woman's valiant attempt to change her life for the better, which she attempts to do with help from an unusual group of outcasts she meets along her journey, especially one handsome dude by the name of Jack Rangle, a down and out drunk who had all but given up hope until Jessica crashed onto the scene. Taylor loves to entertain with tales of suspenseful love and romance that transports her audience into the vastly different worlds of each of her characters. Many readers have commented they felt her books were written just for them, which is quite a compliment for an author. Big on dialogue to move the plot forward, Taylor's easy to understand style of writing, as well as her intermittent injections of humor and those steamy love scenes, keeps her readers turning pages, even more so because Taylor thrives on unusual plot twists and surprise endings. Taylor is a newspaper reporter for the Suwannee Democrat, the Jasper News and the Mayo Free Press when she's not conjuring up another fascinating novel. In 2011, Taylor was awarded second place for Best Obituary by the Florida Press Association. She has also written numerous articles for Suwannee Valley Scene Magazine. Be sure to check out Taylor's book of poetry and short stories, as well as her juvenile fiction, the crowd favorite being “Boys Are Smelly”. The sequel, "Boys Aren't So Smelly" is scheduled for release in 2015.
