About the Book

Into the Night: Poems for the Traveler by Star Light sends the reader on a phantasmagoric journey guided by imagination and personal thought. From the metaphorical figures of the Lady in Hibiscus Red and the Saffron Man to the harsh reality of society, the collection entices the reader to think carefully yet freely. A general invitation is provided to each reader simply to dream. The night is a symbolic escape and poetic paradise that recognizes the bliss as well as disillusionment associated with the human experience.

The poems are predominately free verse, allowing the reader to create his or her own rhythm to the posed thoughts. The nighttime setting creates a lullaby like tone that may prove useful for the restless night owl. Poems are simply immortalized thoughts that cry to be shared and pondered. These particular poems seek out the reader's own feelings and firefly whims.

About the Author

Ashlee has an established passion for writing, particularly poetry. She has taken numerous writing courses from Johns Hopkins University-Center for Talented Youth. She considers poetry a way to immortalize and share thoughts. Ashlee is a high school senior in Williamsburg, Virginia, and she plans to continue writing in college.
