About the Book
Doris Johns Winkles grew up in the rural South during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Although her family was poor, and she went through some difficult times, she was able to maintain a positive outlook on life. Years later, after her children left home, she began to write stories and poems based on her experiences in those early years. They reveal the hard life of that time, but they also reveal the hopes and the joys of the individuals who lived it. Reflections of a Country Girl contains these stories and poems, plus some striking personal memories from her later years.
