About the Book

The poems in this book were written by Melissa between the ages of 13 and 16 and convey nearly every teenage emotion. Although there is often a feeling of hopelessness, there is an even stronger sense of determination and the willpower to overcome all that life presents. Some of these poems will cause the reader to reflect on past decisions, some will lead the reader to a greater understanding of adolescence and others will leave the reader with a sense of promise for a better tomorrow.

About the Author

Melissa Hendrickx is currently living with her family in Brookings, South Dakota and is a junior at Estelline High School. She hopes to major in biochemistry and German and work internationally doing medical research. Melissa has been writing poetry since age eight and has won several amateur poetry awards.
