About the Book
To Borneo and Back: an encounter with Dietrich Bonhoeffer requires one to confront costly grace. As Bonhoeffer said: "When Christ calls a man, he bids him to come and die." This challenge confronted Hipkins as he read THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP in 1959 and as he struggled to establish Church of the Savior, a new community of Christ in Montgomery, OH. From a guard post in Germany to a South India field clinic for lepers, the writer's search for personal penance leads through the snake infested jungles of Borneo. He invites you to take to the road with him.
