About the Book
Oral history is all about talking, and that's just what students at Wasden Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada, did to prepare for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of their school. During interviews with former staff and students, kids collected stories reflecting changes at the school from 1953 until now.
With assistance from Teacher and Writer Beth Miller, the students created questions, conducted interviews and wrote summaries that share what they learned.
Let's Talk History is a document based on memories, a priceless peak into the past that connected kids with grownups who were kind enough to return to their former school to share stories.
If you attended school during the past 50 years, you'll enjoy these memories of May Day celebrations and musical performances, lunch room experiences and favorite teachers.
Let's Talk History offers readers a quick peek into the past, a study of an old Las Vegas neighborhood undergoing change but still thriving.
