About the Book

The last place 15-year old Casey Calhoun expected to spend his summer vacation was lost deep in the jungle with his sister Kelly and best friend, Ben Steele. The secret mission accepted by their fathers’ marine salvage company had brought the two families from their Florida Keys home into the realm of the mysterious, ancient Maya where they learn the legend of Ixchel, the Mayan Goddess of the Moon, and the dreadful curse upon anyone taking possesion of her golden idol.

After the riddle of The-Woman-Who-Walks-On-Water is solved, Casey, Ben, and Kelly are separated from their parents and find themselves alone in a jungle alive with snakes, scorpions, and crocodiles. Their desperate search to find their parents becomes a trek of breath-taking adventure as they face one deadly peril after another: The-Place-Of-Green-Shadows, The-Temple-Of-The-Three-Trials, and the mountain lair of Ah Puch, the Mayan God of Death and the horrors of its Cavern-Of-Vampires. Finally, Casey alone must face the challenge of the mountain’s bottomless pit, the entrance to the lair of the Nine-Demons-Of-The-Underworld.

About the Author

After serving in Korea with the 1st Marine Division, this lover of the outdoors returned home to marry and raise three children. After the death of his beloved wife, he traveled to Central America to see the Mayan ruins and was inspired to write this action packed young adult adventure.
