About the Book
Around the year 1100 A.D., a drought that lasted more than a decade struck what is now the mid-west. To combat this, a tribe of woodland Indians constructed two large pyramids on the dry bed of a nearby lake. Here, this small band of Indians called the Aztalans conducted human sacrifices to their rain gods. The sacrifices eventually worked, but only by also paying with the life of their chief. This chief, hunted down by the tribe from which he stole the sacrifices, is cursed into the lake. The rains come, trapping his spirit for centuries.
Nearly nine hundred years later, during the drought of 1988, the waters finally begin to fall, and the spirit begins to awake. The small town of Tyranena on the shores of the lake begins to experience a string of strange drownings. No one is exactly sure what is happening, but it is up to Alex Roberts and Sara Lipton to find out. Meanwhile the lake keeps falling and the drownings continue. After nine hundred years, the chief is finally released. Alex and Sara must not only find the chief, but hunt him down and battle to spare the town from the summer's terror.About the Author
