The trunk waited in the shed as the seasons passed then came again, silently brooding, hoping for someone to discover it. Particles of dust lingered in the air, occasionally landing on the trunk, giving a prophetic glow in the dim light of day and a forlorn look when the moon appeared. Surrounded by yard tools and Christmas decorations, old clothes, and junk the trunk slowly began to die. All hopes of immortality were crushed as the trunk watched the heavy snowfall gobble up the shed… then suddenly the door opened and a woman entered and the trunk felt its lid rise and the dust flew away.

Guided by her subconscious in the form of a little girl Jessica Monroe rediscovers herself as she pulls out relics from an old trunk and as her past meets her present Jessica realizes even the finest thread cannot separate the two. About the Author

Annabel Hurst Moore currently lives in Lancaster, Ohio. She has been teaching college for almost thirty years. Her second book, The Edge of the Ocean, will soon be available.
