About the Book

Learning to fly a single-engine, general aviation aircraft is a challenging and rewarding endeavor. In today’s airspace, there is much more to flying an airplane than physically controlling the airplane such as weather, navigation, communications, planning and emergency procedures. This book describes the author’s journey from ground zero to the Private Pilot certification. The author shares his experiences in learning the basics, the first solo flight, cross country flights and passing the written, oral and flight examinations required by the Federal Aviation Administration.

About the Author

Bob Murray is a project management consultant for a telecommunications company in northeast Ohio. He earned the Private Pilot certification in May, 1998 and the instrument rating in April, 1999. He resides in Munroe Falls, Ohio with his wife, Charlotte, and their two children, Melissa and Greg.
