Betsy Bogert was the author of numerous articles in the size-acceptance movement, plus one hardcover book, two screenplays, two teleplays, and hundreds of poems. She was an award-winning photographer, one of the top chess players in the U.S. in the 1980's, a member of NAAFA and Mensa, a BBW model, and dedicated size-rights advocate. Betsy passed away in April 2012, and is survived by her husband, daughter, granddaughter, and the delight she inspired in the hearts of all she met. Her final publication was a poetry chapbook published by erbacce-press titled "Welcome to Earth." The Big Happy Bear can also be found in German under the title, "Der liebe dicke Happy-Bär," with illustrations by Eva Aschenbrenner.
