A Gift For My Son

About the Book

Many years ago, I was one of those naive expectant mothers who thought that a simple formula of faith, love and discipline would produce the perfect child. Those who had a problem child, I surmised, either didn't have enough religion in their home, didn't love their child enough or didn't discipline him/her enough. So when, much to my dismay and perplexity, my child began to display chronic problem behaviors I blamed myself. To make matters worse, the counselors we sought out for help blamed me also!

As I searched for answers during this difficult time, however, I discovered many things about myself, my son, human nature and God that profoundly changed my views on parenting and religion. My discoveries also led to a better understanding of God's unconditional love and enabled me to give this most precious of all gifts to my first born child.

My life has been tremendously blessed by going through this most challenging experience and I hope, as you read my story, that your life, and your parenting experience, will be enriched also.

Mary Wuestefeld is a preschool teacher in Paradise, California and has been working with children in various capacities for almost 20 years now. She has three children of her own- Daniel, Melissa and Jason - and is married to Kent, a fifth grade teacher.
