About the Book

Endlessly absorbing. A historical novel packed with humor, romance and drama from the first encounter of Jake Knupp to the finish. At stake is the control of enormous wealth.

In 1923, the Osage Indians were rich. Oil was gushing, drillers were drilling, swindlers were stealing, oil barons were wildcatting and the Osage Indians were being slaughtered for their headrights. Our story begins at the second largest headright payment day for the Osage tribe in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Jack Knupp, an independent driller, and Maggie Lookout, his Osage wife, weave their lives amidst Indians, oilmen, bankers, killers and the Catholic Church. History largest oil lease sale sets the stage for the unraveling of the murders' kingpin.
