About the Book
In Brooklyn an Arab protester risks death in a desperate attempt to keep from being questioned by police. In Toronto a flight attendant’s body is found in her apartment several days after she discovers a disturbing secret about a passenger from her last flight. In Georgia, police uncover a package they expect to contain drugs, but what they find baffles even the most seasoned investigators.
These seemingly disjointed events begin to intertwine when NYPD Detective Lieutenant David McClellan, who is reluctantly assigned to the Intelligence Division, engineers what is supposed to be a textbook sting operation, but turns out to be anything but.
McClellan is plunged onto a bizarre and twisted trail of international terrorism and murder as he tracks an ex-Russian military intelligence operative, turned freelance terrorist, on a path of almost certain pyrotechnic devastation of an unknown target.
Complicating the investigation, McClellan is partnered with a female detective with whom his personal life begins to involve. Department politics and bureaucratic self-preservation threaten to derail his investigation just as McClellan closes in on his quarry in a heart-stopping game of cat-and-mouse, matching his analytical abilities and street-wise perceptions, with the Russian’s meticulous cunning and capability for staying one step ahead.
