About the Book

Controversy over whale hunting by the Native American, Makah tribe in Washington State after a seventy-year ban hit the national news in 1999, when the tribe harvested a whale. The author uses a myth among the Makahs that the "Whale Spirit," has protected its warriors in every war they have fought in under the U.S. flag. About the Author

Charles A. Hall is a Native American-Makah, who was born near Neah Bay, WA. He spent his early few years and several later years on the Indian reservation. Dr. Hall completed a twenty-year career in the U.S. Army as an infantry and intelligence officer, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel¨Cone of the highest ranking full blood Native Americans. He recently completed a career as a teacher, coach, high school principal and superintendent of schools. He and his wife, Katherine move between their homes in Spanaway, WA and Mazatlan, Mexico.
