About the Book

From the heart and souls of Fort Osage Seniors in Independence, Missouri, comes a true glimpse of what it is like to be a high school student on the brink of graduation as they totter on the line between adulthood and adolescence. This collection of poetry will open your eyes as you gaze into these heart-rending, profound thoughts of these young minds and journey deep within their lives only to realize that each of them have a story to tell and dreams to come to fruition.

Fort Osage High School is a school steeped in historical tradition of settlers and Native Americans struggling for order in their lives. Mrs. Farmer, in her first year at the Fort, rallied her students to write well and reveal that which is important to them whether in word or deed. This amalgam of work is her students' last effort to provide a glimpse through their eyes.

About the Author

Seniors enrolled in Anne Farmer?s English IV class at Fort Osage wrote daily from August 2005 to March 2006. Included here are the 160 seniors who chose their best work for this anthology. The school has a population of 1,517 students and is in Independence, Missouri, south of Kansas City.
