About the Book

When the babysitter quits, CC is shuffled off to her grandfather's house after school. Herman Goetz is a cranky old man faced with losing his independence and sometimes his sanity and the two of the family outcasts make an unlikely pair. Together they adopt a pit bull and Herman teaches CC to drive his vintage Cadillac. Then, when Herman arrives at the front of school for promotion, disoriented and wearing his pajamas, CC wants to slink off and let him fend for himself.

Recently retired from the practice of law, Ruth Marvin Webster currently is a business editor for Today?s Local News. Previously, she freelanced as an awarding-winning science and technology reporter. She has published pieces in such prestigious publications as the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Salon, San Diego Magazine, North County Times, Parents Press, and others. National Geographic plans to publish her children?s picture book about the Royal Menagerie in the near future. Ruth Marvin Webster lives in Encinitas, California with her husband Nicholas and two daughters, Emma and Kate.
