About the Book

This is the true story of a struggling graduate going to teach in an Eskimo village next to the Bering Sea.

She leaves her home and her new found love in Montana to pursue her life long dream to teach. While embarking on her career, exploring the mountains in Alaska seems like the perfect adventure.

Instead she finds rejection as a teacher and a painful acceptance that she is still the student and only an explorer of a vast, empty and dark tundra.

In the heat of the Eskimo's steam huts and the witness of their family life her inner workings realize a renewing faith and acceptance of her place and where she belongs.

About the Author

In 1997 A.D. Winslow traveled to a remote Eskimo village to teach right out of college.

Now she teaches in Northwest Montana where she enjoys climbing in the Rockies. She has also enjoyed climbing and trekking in Asia, Europe and South America.
